On March 21, 2016 the Ambassador of Ukraine to Qatar Mr. Yevhen Mykytenko visited the General Directorate of Borders Passports and Expatriates Affairs and met with the head of this institution Brigadier General Abdullah Al-Ali.
During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation in consular and migration issues. Special attention was drawn to the issue of protecting the rights and interests of citizens of Ukraine, permanently or temporarily residing in the territory of Qatar.
General A.Al-Ali said that there are currently about a thousand of Ukrainians who work in public or private sectors.
The sides noted the importance of the Decree adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine dated 03.02.2016 year regarding the liberalization of visa requirements for citizens of Qatar and the need for rapid launch of direct flight between the capitals of the two countries to enhance tourism and business exchange.
At the end of the meeting, the Qatari side assured of its willingness to continue assisting Ukrainian citizens during their stay in Qatar.
