In the context of scientific and technical cooperation between Ukraine and Qatar a Memorandum of Understanding between Lviv National Medical University named after Danylo Halytskiy and the Medical College of the Qatar University was signed.

The signing ceremony was done remotely through correspondence between the two institutions.

From the Ukrainian side the MOU was signed by the rector of Lviv National Medical University prof. Boris Zimenkovsky, while Qatari signed was represented by the Dean, vice-president of Medical sciences and Health in the Qatar University professor Egon Toft.

Memorandum, the effect of which will last three years with the possibility of extension, envisages the implementation of joint research programs, development, creation of a "start-up" grants, exchange of students, post-graduates, teaching staff, implementation of business projects based on innovative technologies, holding forums, seminars and conferences etc.

One of the initiators of the idea of signing these documents belongs to the Ukrainian professor, Dr. Serhiy Souchelnytskyi, who heads the Department of research at the Medical College in Qatar University.

This document is the first in the history of Ukrainian-Qatari relations direct interagency memorandum signed between universities of the two countries, laying a solid foundation and opening up good prospects for expansion of scientific, educational and academic contacts in other industries and fields.
