On April 4-8, 2019 Speaker of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy paid an official visit to the State of Qatar where participated in the 140^th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union, which is being held in Doha.

The Head of the Ukrainian delegation was accompanied by the members of the Parliament Borys Tarasyuk, Leonid Iemets, Olena Sotnyk, Alona Shkrum and Valeriia Zaruzhko as well as other officials from the management of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The Speaker took part in the official opening ceremony of 140^th Assembly of Inter-Parliamentary Union and was greeted by His Highness Amir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

On April 7, 2019 during the General Debate Andriy Parubiy delivered his speech, in which he drew particular attention to the ongoing Russian aggression against Ukraine.

Delegates from 163 countries participate in the 140^th Assembly of IPU led by 60 Speakers of Parliaments and 40 deputy Speakers and with the participation of over 2000 members of Parliaments.
