On August 20, 2020 Ukraine and the State of Qatar have signed the Concession agreement for the development and operation of the Ukrainian Port of Olvia.
The agreement was signed between Qatari company QTerminals and the company QTerminals SC Olvia, Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine, Administration of Seaports of Ukraine during online signing ceremony in Doha and Kyiv.
The ceremony took place with participation of H.E. Mr. Vladyslav Kryklii, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine, H.E. Mr. Jassim bin Saif Al-Sulaiti, Minister of Transport and Communications of the State of Qatar, H.E. Mr Andrii Kuzmenko, Ambassador of Ukraine to Qatar and H.E. Hadi Al Hajri, Ambassador of Qatar to Ukraine.
According to the agreement, QTerminals, the world's leading port operator, will invest during the first 5 years about 3.4 billion UAH in the development of the Ukrainian port. In addition, at least 80 million UAH will be invested in local infrastructure.
During 35 years of the concession it will be attracted up to 17.3 billion UAH in investments. This is the first direct Qatari investment in Ukraine's economy, the second largest investment after Kryvorizhstal and one of the largest foreign direct investments in Ukraine's port industry over the 29 years of independence of our country.
