On April, 2017 the popular Qatari arab-speaking newspaper "Al-Arab" published an interview with the Ambassador Yevhen Mykytenko related to the planned liberalization of the visa policy for citizens of Qatar, who will visit Ukraine for tourism, business or private purposes.
The head of Ukrainian diplomatic mission, in particular, noted that starting from April 16, 2017 all citizens of Qatar will be able to get an entry visa directly at checkpoints across the state border of Ukraine. However, he stressed that the Embassy will continue to issue visas as usual.
According to the Ambassador, such a step from the Ukrainian authorities is important in terms of enhancing tourism and business relations between Qatar and Ukraine. It also will increase the number of Qataris who will visit our country within their trips to other European states, including those in the EU.
The diplomat also noted that the Ukrainian side is seriously studying the possibility of abolishing visa requirements for Qataris in future. At the same time, he expressed hope that Qatari authorities will also take symmetrical measures towards citizens of Ukraine.
