On January 22, 2025, on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani.

The President thanked Qatar for its support of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and for joining the Joint Communiqué following the first Peace Summit.

The President highlighted Qatar’s mediation in the return of 53 Ukrainian children, who were forcibly deported by Russia from Ukraine. Our country looks forward to expanding this mediation mission and receiving assistance in the return of unlawfully detained civilians and prisoners of war.

The conversation also touched on humanitarian cooperation and food security. Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the new Ukrainian initiative, “Food from Ukraine,” launched to assist the Syrian people and to provide food supplies to Syria. Additionally, Ukraine is working on ways to support Syria’s agricultural sector and provide training for Syrian students. The President invited Qatar to join in the implementation of these initiatives and provide financial support, which would also contribute to the restoration of stability in the entire region.
