On March 9-th, 2016 The Ambassador of Ukraine to Qatra Mr. Yevhen Mykytenko met with the newly appointed Minister of State for Defence of Qatar Dr. Khalid Al-Atyyiah, who previously held the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to the bilateral cooperation in relevant domain.

Particular emphasis was placed on the planned participation of a number of Ukrainian companies in the international naval exhibition "DIMDEX-2016" which will take place in Doha during 29-31 March, 2016.

Dr. Khalid Al-Atyyiah confirmed the invitation to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mr. Stepan Poltorak to visit Qatar in the capacity of the head of the official delegation of Ukraine for the aforementioned exhibition.

The sides also stressed the importance of expanding the legal basis of bilateral relations, in particular through the conclusion of the agreement in the military and technical coop.

Separately the interlocutors discussed the current situation in the Middle East and North Africa. Qatari official was also informed of the latest developments in Ukraine in light of the Russian aggression in Crimea and Moscow's continuous support for illegal terrorist groups in the Eastern Ukraine.
